Final Registration Reminder for Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony 2011

Dear Students, 

Maximum capacity for the 2011 Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony has nearly been reached and will most likely close before the April 1 registration deadline.  If you haven’t done so yet, please register in order to qualify to participate.   

The Ceremony is open to only Ph.D. students who graduated in fall 2010 and who anticipate graduating in spring or summer 2011. Participation will be subject to confirmation from your dissertation chair. 

We are sorry, but EDD, DMA, DPA, and DRSc students are not eligible to participate.  Please check with your Schools regarding their doctoral ceremony information. 

Eligible students who wish to participate in the Ceremony must register for it before registration closes. Students who request to register late will be placed on a registration wait-list but there are no guarantees that they will be permitted to participate.  A wait-list student who is cleared to register may not receive guest tickets in Bovard and/or their names may not be printed in the Program Book.  Candidates are not eligible to register on the day of the Ceremony.

Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony; Registration begins Feb. 11

Registration for the Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony will begin on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 2 pm (Pacific Standard Time).  You will not be able to access the registration site before then.   A “save the date” flier is linked here Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony Registration  Please note the following:

The Ceremony is open to only Ph.D. students who graduated in fall 2010 and who anticipate graduating in spring or summer 2011. Participation will be subject to confirmation from your dissertation chair.

• We are sorry, but EDD, DMA and DRS students are not eligible to participate.  Please check with your Schools regarding their doctoral ceremony information.
• Upon registration:
  • Please make sure that your 10-digit USC identification number is correctly inputted
  • Do not enter your name/faculty advisor name in all CAPS
  • Do not enter your title in all CAPS (titles are subject to review) and make sure all words are spelled correctly
  • If your registration is complete, you will receive an email confirmation from grad1@usc.edu.  Please email us directly if you do not receive an email confirmation.
  • Only the dissertation chair will be invited to hood a student.  If the chair is not available to hood, the Dean of the School will present the hood on a chair’s behalf.  We are sorry, but due to space limitations on stage, strict fire code regulations and the overall flow of the program, substitute chairs will not be permitted even if they are going to be on stage to hood another student.
  • Candidates who register online by the deadline date will be eligible for a maximum of 3 guest tickets inside Bovard Auditorium.
  • There will also be limited seating available outside in Associates Park, just behind Bovard Auditorium. This is an outdoor large-screen live viewing of the ceremony. This seating is not ticketed; but it is first come, first serve.

We anticipate the Ceremony to be “sold-out” and therefore, extra guest Bovard tickets will not be available.

To accommodate more guests, SPPD’s Graduate Satellite Ceremony at 3:00 PM will be at Lot 6, located on Downey Way near Kaprielian Hall and Irani Hall. The reception following will be here in Lewis Hall and on our courtyard.

There are no tickets required for the USC main ceremony and the SPPD undergraduate and graduate satellite ceremonies on Friday, May 13.
